Update! Now Accepting Commissions
Good afternoon, all!
This is just a short post, as I’ve been reminded to add commission prices to my about page, as I mentioned in the previous post. I realize many of my subscribers may not be authors or otherwise looking for artwork, but if you know someone else who is, feel free to share!
An important note for those looking for an illustrator: The prices in the “official” pricing guide linked below are towards the lower end of the spectrum you’ll find with illustrators online. These are considered to be what my time and effort are worth.
However, I also consider these to be a “suggested donation,” as I understand many authors and other writers may not be in a position to pay that price. So, I’m always happy to negotiate! (I’ve also updated yesterday’s PDF with this note.)
Further, for the next six months, through January 17th, 2025, the price of black and white illustrations, full-color illustrations, and cover art are limited to the highest price of $74.93, $190.74, and $326.98, respectively. If this still sounds like a lot, remember - these are “suggested donations.” This is a trial period as I see if I can build a part-time job out of this, and as I build my portfolio by hopefully working with members of the Substack Community.
For example, if an author (or any other possible client) approaches me with a project I have no issues with, am entirely excited and supportive about, and they request a cover artwork but can only pay, say, $75, I’ll likely be happy to take it on. This is much cheaper than most illustrators you might find.
In exchange for the lower price, I might ask for twice the length of time I’d normally take on said project, and/or ask the client to make a donation of any amount to a specific charity, such as Mary’s Meals, or to donate to a Catholic Shrine, such as the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, or to support a group of traditional monks or nuns (even if that means you’re buying jam or candy from said monks or nuns. Bonus!).
You’ll also find notes on what kind of projects I won’t be able to work on, notes on payment methods, contracts, etc. With all of that aside, you can find the guide below.
Thank you for reading!
As a reminder, please avoid downloading or taking screenshots of Stella Maris artwork, as such images could be uploaded by individuals to make their own products, and won’t support my work, or that of the authors.
Thank you for reading Stella Maris Designs! If you’d like to support a Catholic artist and writer who believes in using her talents to honor God and create artwork that is good and beautiful, please consider becoming a paid subscriber, or buying me a pink lemonade for me to pair with some carrot cake!
If you’d otherwise like to support Stella Maris Designs, please subscribe and share with your friends. Thank you!
